Infectious Disease Mononucleosis

Pages: 3 (1017 words) Sources: 3 Document Type:Case Study Document #:16256875

...Education At present, the symptoms presented by the student are consistent with infectious mononucleosis (IM) caused by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV).  This includes symptoms that appear to mimic those of the flu.  In addition to a sore throat, the patient complains of aching joints and fatigue.  It should be noted that an elevated temperature and swollen lymph nodes were revealed following an initial examination by the FNP.  The lab results were, however, unremarkable and a Monospot test turned out to be negative.  It is important to note that “because peak heterophile antibody levels are seen between 2 to 6 weeks from infection, testing too early in the disease process may lead to increased rates of false negative testing” (Stuempfig and Seroy, 2019).  In the case study, we are told that the patient in question has been having “flu-like” symptoms for the last one week.  Therefore, the Monospot test in this case could……

Raising Families In The 1950s After World War II

Pages: 6 (1711 words) Sources: 9 Document Type:Research Paper Document #:94465868

...Education Usual Roles for Men and Women Raising Families in the 1950s after World War II
Background of researched generation or individual, historical and present
The 1950s epoch is often perceived as an era of conformity, during which both genders adhered to their stringent roles and acted following the society's expectations. After the damage and devastation caused by the Great Depression and the Second World War, numerous people in the society chose to build a society that is both peaceful and successful. Even though it was expected that women would identify themselves fundamentally as wives and mothers and to steer clear of work outside the home setting, women continued to constitute a substantial percentage of the post-World War II labor force. The culmination of the war instigated significant changes. Notably, working women were supplanted by the soldiers who were returning home after the war. The communications relayed in popular culture, as……

Social Support Networks For Mental Health

Pages: 1 (362 words) Sources: 3 Document Type:Essay Document #:32434138

...Education Prescription for Health
Social support is a major factor in terms of a social variable that influences health. People who suffer from depression are often isolated and alone and do not have a support network to give them confidence or to make them feel like they are loved and valued. According to Maslow’s (1943) hierarchy of needs and human motivation model, people need esteem, friendship and love before they can reach a level of self-actualization, where they can feel self-motivated and self-empowered. Thus, having a social support system is truly important for one’s psychological health.
Part of the problem of today’s digital culture is that too many young persons are turning to social media for a support system but only finding instead a self-obsessed social media culture in which every person is trying to redirect attention to themselves and their own profiles. It is not a true community of support……

Gender Contact Comfort And Sex

Pages: 2 (711 words) Sources: 4 Document Type:Essay Document #:86230237

...Education Family and Environment
1
Emotional attachment, as Harlow’s studies on contact comfort showed, is born of the comfort that comes from contact with something reassuring, soft, and warm. The baby monkey for instance spent all its time on the cloth monkey rather than on the wire monkey because contact comfort served as the basis of attachment rather than food comfort, which the wire monkey gave. The baby monkey also ran to the cloth monkey when the frightening machine was placed in its cage: it sought out the contact comfort to calm its fears before gaining the confidence to confront the frightening machine. Then when the baby monkey was placed in the unfamiliar room it sought out the comfort of the cloth monkey and then felt secure enough to go explore the room like a curious little monkey.
The differences individual attachment matter because children need reinforcement, comfort and security to……
