The federal budget process is … In terms of representative government, the representatives of the people are the members of Congress—they are the agents of the principles, i.e., the voters who put them in positions of power. The voters put the agents (the representatives) in office under the belief that the representatives will do what is in the best interest of stakeholders—the … bidding of these lobbies. A conflict of interest thus arises: the lobbies represent only a small percentage of the public whereas many other voters voted under the impression that the agent would act on behalf of the principle.

... vote Proposal for mandatory staffing ratios
Introduction: Reflection
Public Policy Issue
This policy will mandate that mandatory staffing ratios be met by hospitals throughout the nation. This is an important public policy issue because it would oblige hospitals that are part of the Medicare program to create a committee that is partly made of nurses who can discuss the issue of staffing. As Fowler and Comeaux (2017) point out, staffing is still a major challenge for nurses. If there are too few nurses on staff it can lead to nurse burnout. The right ratio of nurses to patients is required to prevent nurses from being overburdened (Martin, 2015). The reason I selected this policy is because it is clearly important to nurses’ own health and ability to do their jobs. It can also play a part in preventing turnover rates from going too high (Laschinger & Fida, 2015). Therefore, this is……

... vote Women Creating Culture: Sofonisba Anguissola, Mary Wollstonecraft and Emily Dickinson
Introduction
While the patriarchal heritage of the West commonly references the contributions of men to history and culture, the West would not be what it is today without the contributions to culture made by women as well. This paper will look at the contributions of three women in particular—Sofonisba Anguissola, the Italian Renaissance painter whose skill caught the attention of Michelangelo and ultimately won her a position in the court of King Phillip II of Spain; Mary Wollstonecraft, whose Vindication of the Rights of Women in the 18th century opened the door for the 19th and 20th centuries’ women’s movements; and Emily Dickinson, whose poetry of the 19th century was lauded by second wave feminists such as Adrienne Rich, who identified Dickinson as an important inspiration in her own work. These women helped shape but were also shaped by their……

... vote Spiritual Leadership and the Role of Self Knowledge in Accepting God's Grace
Barton (2018) describes the soul as that “part of you that is most real—the very essence of you that God knew before he brought you forth in physical form” (p. 13). For me, this definition makes perfect sense and I cannot see any way to improve upon it. The soul is the essence of the self: one can think of oneself in so many different ways but unless one is really tuned in to one’s soul he is not going to be understanding himself perfectly—i.e., the way God understands him. Part of what keeps us from God is this lack of self-awareness. Instead of realizing and addressing our weaknesses or the issues that cause the soul to be dragged down, we cover them over and apply slipshod solutions in an attempt to keep going in the way we……
