The effectiveness of any Army unit is partly affected by the size and capability of the existing workforce. Leaders in Army units face the need to promote the growth and development of the workforce in order to enhance their capabilities and overall effectiveness of the respective unit. As shown in your discussion, workforce capabilities in Army units are sometimes affected by the size of the workforce. An inadequate number of personnel contributes to gaps between the existing workforce and the human capital needs of the unit/organization. These gaps can be addressed through hiring an adequate number of personnel as well as employing various strategies toward employee engagement, training/retraining, and organizational adaptability. Your discussion correctly demonstrates that identification of gaps in the workforce and human capital needs should be based on the structure of the Army force structure and unit.

A military end state refers to a number of vivid signs that signify all military goals have been accomplished. These signs are part of the standards used to indicate the end of a given military operation. They actually point out that the military is no longer the main device in the government’s hand in accomplishing further goals. As such, it is important for the military end state to be definite and straightforward. A number of easily determinable signs should be provided. The military should also be able to come to these signs in the course of its operations. With a distinct military end state, the key stakeholders are able to set major goals which can be mutually worked on. There is no assigned definition for mission command. This is to say that there are various definitions that have been floated in the past in an attempt to express this particular warfighting function. As a matter of fact, there are different definitions assigned to mission command under Army doctrine and the Joint Doctrine. In addition to highlighting what I learnt about mission command, this discussion will also assess how I intend to apply the philosophy as well as concepts of mission command in my future duty.
