...Family Re-Assessing the Effectiveness of the Country’s Gun Laws
America’s Gun Laws Are they Effective
Introduction
Signed into law on the 22nd of Oct, 1968, the Gun Control Act of 1968 is largely considered to be the very first significant attempt at controlling not only interstate firearms commerce, but also firearm ownership. Prior to this particular legislation, there had been other gun-control laws passed. These included but they were not limited to the National Firearms Act of 1934 and the Federal Firearms Act of 1938. These laws did not, however, sufficiently put in place a mechanism for the effective regulation of firearm owners and the firearm industry. However, with the assassination of both Martin Luther King and President J.F. Kennedy, there was a clear need for an interventionist measure in the gun politics realm. Today, gun control remains a rather divisive issue in our nation’s politics. Thanks to an escalation in……

...Family Operations Management
Introduction to the Company
Fiyeli Coffee is an artisan coffee roaster in a mid-sized city. The company operates with a wholesale-only business model, which allows it to focus on the high end restaurant and hotel trade in the state, along with a mail order retail business. Fiyeli also sells to select coffee shops, but most of its market is on the restaurant and hotel side.
In the United States, the retail coffee market is worth an estimated $12.8 billion and saw a growth rate of 7.9% (Morder Intelligence, 2017). The market is highly competitive and highly stratified, but the growth provides opportunity for companies to grow, and to find specialized niche markets.
The Challenge
Fiyeli faces a long-term challenge to ensure a stable supply chain of high quality coffee beans. Rising consumption has increased demand, while climate change is threatening supply, the result being a spike in the……

...Family Etiology
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), as is the case with several psychiatric disorders, is viewed widely as a consequence of the complex interaction of many factors such as psychological, neuroanatomical, neurochemical, and genetic factors.
a) Genetic factors: There is growing evidence that BPD is genetic and can run in some families. A study of people with BPD has shown that the prevalence of BPD among the relatives of people suffering from the condition can be up to 20 times higher than the prevalence among people who don’t have a blood relative suffering from the condition. In Monozygotic twins, the concordance rate was 35% relative to a rate of 7% in dizygotic twins. This research was done by Torgersen and colleagues. This high concordance rate is linked to the role played by genetics in BPD etiology.
b) Neurochemical factors: Serotonin has been linked to impulsivity and aggression. If there is a……

...Family Introduction
Ageism, isolation, and misconceptions about gerontology are all issues that the vulnerable elderly population faces (Brojeni, Ilali, Taraghi & Mousavinasab, 2019). As Yamada et al. (2015) point out, however, the issue of healthcare disparity and healthcare inequality of the elderly is one of the biggest issues because it underlines all the others: if the elderly population does not even have sufficient access to care, it is unlikely to be able to battle the effects of ageism, isolation or ignorance about gerontology. Healthcare costs have doubled since the 1990s (Yamada et al., 2015), and this puts an added burden on the elderly population, whose resources are finite. Yamada et al. (2015) put it this way: “as healthcare costs rises, more of the increasing costs are transferred to certain disadvantaged populations, and patients would have to spend a considerable share of their healthcare costs out-of-pocket” (p. 1745). In other words, the……

...Family 1. INTRODUCTION
This project plan is for a hypothetical struggling hospital in the NY Metropolitan area. The hospital is on the verge of bankruptcy but is the only pediatric hospital in the area. It also boasts of some of the most innovative researchers and physicians in the country. The walls are peeling, some of the equipment is outdated, and staff morale is low. As the consultant project manager, I intend to focus on identifying and replacing the outdated equipment, raising the required funds using appropriate strategies.
1.1 Purpose of Project Management Plan
The purpose of the Hospital Equipment Upgrade (HEU) PMP is to identify all outdated equipment in the target hospital, develop a plan of how this equipment will be replaced, and identify the source of the funds required for this purpose.
2. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OF PROJECT CHARTER
Hospitals in the U.S. lose a total of $8.3 billion a year……

...Family Baby Boom, Soviet launch of Sputnik into space and Assassination of JFK
The Baby Boom played into the Consumer Culture of the 1950s because there was literally a population explosion in post-War America. People wanted to settle down, have families, and buy the things advertised on TVs. The middle class emerged as comfortable, successful and somewhat more materialistic than generations of the past. They had disposable income and keeping up with the Joneses became a reality for many, which fueled the Consumer Culture even more.
Sputnik was the Soviets’ first satellite into space—launched into orbit in 1957. Sputnik II followed one month later, and the Space Race began. Americans feared the Soviets would control space and be able to fire missiles at the U.S. from space. Thus, it became imperative that the U.S. be able to counter the Soviet space initiative. That is what Eisenhower authorized the National Defense Education……
