Nursing quality and adequate staffing are intertwined. Adequate levels of nurses, lower nurse to patient ratios, and also more highly trained nurses are associated with better health outcomes and lower mortality rates. But despite the fact that there is high demand for nurses, and also increased interest in entering this very exciting profession, retaining qualified nurses and recruiting new nurses is a struggle for many hospitals. Also, in a desire to cut costs, many institutions are often unwilling, despite evidence-based research supporting higher staffing ratios as leading to lower-cost and superior patient outcomes, to hire more nurses as healthcare staffing makes up as much as 40% of all intuitional operating costs (“Nursing Shortage,” 2019).
The attempt to cut costs by reducing staff levels reflects an unfortunately misguided view of the value of the nursing profession. It also reflects a misguided view of an aging……

I started my health and nutrition program study after I began reading more health literature. I had seen my father’s health erode as a result of poor dieting and lack of exercise. He suffers from diabetes and is convinced it is not related to his lack of dieting or exercise, but the literature I had read convinced me otherwise. Davis (2008) showed that natives in the Marshall Islands developed diabetes when they moved away from their natural, organic diets and began consuming pre-packaged, fast foods. He initiated a program that returned them to a lifestyle of living off the land and sea, which gave them exercise and a healthy, organic diet. Their diabetes disappeared (Davis, 2008). Bray, Nielsen and Popkin (2004) and Malik et al. (2010) also have shown a link between consumption of high-fructose corn syrup, soda pop……

In the present scenario, the patient presents with symptoms similar to those of acute myocardial infarction AMI. It therefore follows that the primary diagnosis in this case, on the strength of the said symptoms and following further assessment, would be AMI. In basic terms, AMI is occasioned by tissue damage as a consequence of the abrupt cut-off of blood flow to the heart. Some of the key symptoms associated with AMI include, but they are not limited to “chest pain, which travels from left arm to neck, shortness of breath, sweating, nausea, vomiting, abnormal heart beating, anxiety, fatigue, weakness, stress, depression, and other factors” (Lu, Sun, Zheng, and Zhang, 2015, p. 866). In the case presented, the patient presents with shortness of breath and midsternal chest pain.
