Formulating An Effective National Response To Ebola In Nigeria

Pages: 17 (5038 words) Sources: 20 Document Type:Research Paper Document #:83371879

...Hooks Abstract
Today, there are dozens of deadly diseases in the world, but the Ebola virus disease (alternatively “EVD” or “Ebola”) is among the most virulent and lethal. Although intensive research is underway, there is no cure currently available for Ebola and the death toll attributable to this disease continues to increase. To date, there have been nearly 30,000 cases of Ebola infections that caused more than 11,000 deaths, primarily in West Africa, but the disease has the potential to spread worldwide unless first responders, emergency management managers and the health care community take aggressive steps to identify infections and contain outbreaks. The main purpose of this study is to provide a systematic and critical review of the relevant juried, scholarly and governmental literature about the Ebola virus disease to create an awareness manual that is targeted at educating Nigerian citizens concerning this disease. A secondary purpose of this study is……

Social Distancing As A New Normal Is Enslavement

Pages: 4 (1093 words) Document Type:Essay Document #:46329333

The new normal they say—that is what it has come down to for us! They have decided to dictate the terms for us with regard to how we are now to live our lives. They know what is best for us, what is best for our health, what is best for our world. These tin pot dictators have determined a collective course of action, agreed upon behind closed doors, and have issued their executive decisions, making laws left and right that limit your freedom and curtail your civil liberties. They have robbed from you your very right to work, to earn a living for yourself. In what sane world does one man have the right to deny another the ability to work? You cannot take a man’s work away from him—for then what is he but a……

Marijuana Is An Addictive Drug

Pages: 4 (1101 words) Sources: 5 Document Type:Essay Document #:42050438

...Hooks Marijuana is a drug that is acquired from the cannabis plant. It is also referred to as cannabis and it is a psychoactive drug (Miller, Oberbarnscheidt and Gold 1). Marijuana is used for recreational or medical purposes. Across the world, marijuana is the most commonly used illicit drug and it is classified as Schedule 1 controlled substance. It alters the mood of a person and affects almost every organ in the body. The cannabis plant is normally dried out, ground up, and smoked. The drug comes in many forms and it can even be baked. In most instances, it is added in the ingredients for cookies and candies for it to be consumed. This produces the same effect as that of smoking it. Marijuana being a psychoactive drug alters perception. It contains tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is a chemical compound that causes the effects of the drug (Uhl, Koob and Cable……

Substance Abuse And Addiction

Pages: 4 (1306 words) Sources: 2 Document Type:Essay Document #:86773180

...Hooks 1
The determining factors and the relationship between substance abuse and addiction include time, the build-up of tolerance, the development of craving, and the experience of withdrawal so that the individual no longer wants to ever be without the drug. One who abuses substances is likely to get into legal or social trouble; one who is addicted is one who no longer cares about the repercussions and cares only for the high that the substances promise (Doweiko, 2015).
In my own experience, abuse can turn into addiction as the will gradually gives in to the craving. For instance, I have seen people become alcoholics as they start off just enjoying alcohol. Then they begin enjoying it too much and they get a DUI. Then they realize that they need to straighten out their lives, but eventually things do not go well for them and they end up turning to alcohol……
