Loneliness is defined as “a subjective, unwelcome feeling of lack or loss of companionship. It happens when we have a mismatch between the quantity and quality of social relationships that we have, and those that we want” (Office for National Satistics). As Horne notes, loneliness and depression play off one another. Loneliness is not necessarily isolation from people as it is the feeling of being alone (Horne). Van Winkel et al. show that loneliness often is both a predictor and symptom of depression. Depression in other words is typically an underlying current in loneliness.
In recent years there has been a significant increase in the rate of depression among young adults (National Institute of Mental Health). Adoption of the ideal distribution technique for one’s organization forms the key when it comes to generating revenue and ensuring client loyalty. Several organizations opt for several distribution techniques to cater to diverse end-customer bases. Logistical aspects have always contributed strategically to the organizational business. Within the context of wholesalers and retailers, such organizations go beyond the areas of transportation and inventory management for including one among the most crucial components of organizational success—location relative to supply sources or end-customer markets. The focus of my dissertation is toward the aged American population, particularly the elderly veterans. I will be considering the type and quality of care they receive for the remainder of their old age. Currently, there are programs and health services targeted toward that group. I am interested in the approaches and activities of such programs and other similar programs that might need to be implemented through congressional deliberation and approval. Gerontology is receiving significant attention from researchers in the American space due to the steady incline of the aged American population.
Through the evaluation of certain tendencies within the group of elderly veterans, intervention measures can be provided. Known risk-factors within this group include mental illnesses and war-related disabilities/amputations, which are potential triggers for suicidal behavior/tendency with increasing age (Reid, 2018).
