Resume Outline Example

In this example of our resume outline, we are providing information for a fictional person, which that person could use to create a resume.  It is important to realize that this outline is just to make sure that the person has information gathered to create a resume.  You should never turn in a resume outline in lieu of a resume.  Also, while this outline contains high school information, that information should fall off of your resume if it has been a while since you graduated.  If you have irrelevant job experience, then you will not include it on your resume, so do not include it in your resume outline.  For example, if our fictional person, Marjorie Smith, worked at McDonald’s in high school and then at Starbucks while she was in college, those skills would not translate for the position she is seeking and do not need to be on her resume.  However, if Marjorie was seeking her first position as a social worker then she would include that work experience, even if it does not directly apply, so that her resume can highlight some work experience.  Then, she might want to brainstorm about what skills she learned in that position that would apply to the job she wants and include that information on her resume.
