Police in Society Organizational Structure Term Paper

Patrol crafts would be deployed along the coastal areas waiting to act upon any information provided to confiscate drugs and arrest drug traffickers. For this purpose, the city police would be armoured with 2 well-equipped fast patrol crafts. Communication services between the stations and the patrol crafts would be state of the art including GPS systems and radar networks to facilitate identifying and tracking down of suspicious activity in the coastal waters. Further, the use of latest thermal imaging and laser optics tools would provide effective supervision at nights.

Conclusion

The police department has immense responsibility in maintaining law and order and providing safety and security would necessitate a strong police force based on a clear and sound organizational philosophy. As a coastal city with its growing population, the urban city of Metropolis is faced with numerous problems, in particular the high drug trade activity along the coastal regions. The Metropolis city police department is geared up to deal with the requirements of the situation. The stringent recruitment drive followed by effective training programs and an organizational culture that promotes transparency and cooperation ensures that the police force is well equipped to tackle the law and order situation in the city. Policing is no longer a role limited to the uniforms and in order to be an effective force today's police need to forge positive bonds with the general public and the best method to do this is to gain their support. Community policing, thus becomes an indispensable aspect in Metropolis as an effective tool in crime checking and creating a positive image about the police. The idea of 'friends of police' would definitely make the public more actively involved and cooperative with the police in their task. As a well co-ordinated and cooperative police network, with the four stations inter-connected effectively, there is no question of doubt that the Metropolis police department will bring down the crime rates in the region and allay the fears of the public.
