NYC elected officials at the federal, state, and local levels

Congresswoman Nydia M. Velasquez is one of the most impressive persons in the state due to the numerous historic actions she is responsible for. "In 1992, she was the first Puerto Rican woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. In February 1998, she was named Ranking Democratic Member of the House Small Business Committee, making her the first Hispanic woman to serve as Ranking Member of a full House committee. Most recently, in 2006, she was named Chairwoman of the House Small Business Committee, making her the first Latina to chair a full Congressional committee." (About Nydia Velasquez) One of the most surprising things about the U.S. politicians is the fact that she comes from an underprivileged environment -- she was born in Puerto Rico in conditions that made it difficult for her co-nationals to earn a living.

Charles "Chuck" Ellis Schumer played an active role in New York's political environment for approximately four decades now, with his involvement being visible in a series of situations. One of the U.S. Senator for New York's characteristic attributes is his determination to fight against crime and violence. The Senator is also known for his willingness to visit each of the state's 62 counties every year as a means to better connect with people. His appointment as a senator provided him with the authority to install a series of strategies meant to improve the state's economic condition. "Chuck was the author of legislation that eliminated barriers that delay low-cost generic medications from entering the marketplace and led the charge to make college tuition tax deductible." (About Chuck) This makes it possible for someone to understand the U.S. senator's scope.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has been sworn in January 2009 and in spite of the relatively short period of time she has been in this position managed to emphasize her interest in honest political actions. As a member of Congress she is recognized for making her details public and for encouraging other politicians to put across similar attitudes.

Daniel Squadron is a New York Senator who managed to play an active role in the state in spite of his young age. Squadron was first elected in 2008 and succeeded to replace a Senator who held the position for more than three decades (Squadron was twenty-eight at the time, thus meaning he was…
