In your explanation, compare and contrast domestic and international terrorism. Also, please indicate whether either type of terrorism is subject to defeat. or, in a free society such as ours, must we simply learn to live with the annoyance and tragedies of ideological, political, and/or religiously-motivated violence?)

Domestic terrorism is much more statistically common than foreign terrorism, as those who feel they have cause to be angry enough to act against anything are much more likely to act against something they see as wrong in their own environment, Opportunity and ease of access also plays a role in this observation. Though terrorist acts are exceedingly rare they do occur on a somewhat regular basis if definitions are kept broad and are more likely to be domestic in nature than foreign born. (Lewis, 2000, p. 201) Domestic and international terrorism are similar in some ways, they both experience the kind of seething anger and hatred needed to perpetrate violent acts to be heard, yet the two groups also differ in motivation. Domestic terrorists tend to think of one issue as the core issue of devalue, race, religion… while international terrorists seem to be striking out at an entire set of standards and rights that they do not believe are right, they also may not be striking out at the actual place they target but are instead seeking to make an international impression of fear. They are seeking not to topple their target but get international attention and use the opportunity to make a point, regarding their ideology. Both organizations are fear mongering and scapegoating all the ills of humanity on an ideology they seek to destroy but they often go about their acts in completely different ways, cold and calculating nonetheless.

While both domestic and international terrorism pose a threat to America the threat of domestic groups is more serious. The individuals in the domestic groups already live here and are able to mingle, plot, plan and carry out acts of violence with very little scrutiny until the act occurs. International groups must deal with visa issues, customs and other things that make it more difficult to get into and attack the U.S. There

PETA is an animal protection group that often uses extreme measures and grotesque advertising campaigns to help fight to keep animals out of products like fur coats and make-up. There have been analyses made regarding this aspect and opinions are both for an easier gun regulation as well as against such a legislative initiative. On the one hand, it is considered that indeed legally allowing people to buy guns would automatically trigger a greater number of fire arms. (Workman, 2006) on the other hand however, Peter Hamm, spokesman for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, suggests that the

Further, these groups are not motivated by violence, but instead are still political groups trying to convince the mainstream political organizations of their views. Thus, it is clear that identifying domestic terrorism is different in today's society, taking many forms. Understanding how domestic terrorism can often be difficult to pinpoint can help criminal justice scholars as they attempt to define what should be considered domestic violence and what can be
