The standards set by the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) are meant to ensure that health service consumers get the same quality of care when served in any health care facility across the nation (Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care [ACSQHC], 2016). The main objective of the NSQHS standards is to protect users of health services from harm and to enhance the quality of care provided countrywide. The standards are essentially mechanisms meant to monitor the quality of health services provided (ACSQHC, 2019). However, despite the existence of these standards and several other measures, clinical and professional issues still occur in the nursing world resulting in health service consumers being harmed or negatively impacting the quality of health care services being offered (Government of Western Australia, 2017).

The article by Protheroe et al. (2016) is entitled “The Feasibility of Health Trainer Improved Patient Self-Management in Patients with Low Health Literacy and Poorly Controlled Diabetes: A Pilot Randomised Controlled Trial” and appeared in Journal of Diabetes Research. This paper will critique the two articles by evaluating information pertaining to their titles, abstracts, introductions, background sections and the authors’ discussion of their respective studies’ significance. Information pertaining to the studies’ statement of problem, research questions or hypotheses, literature review, theoretical framework, ethical considerations and research design will be evaluated as well. Early 2008, representatives from indigenous health organizations, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner, and the commonwealth government of Australia, signed an agreement that was meant to ensure that all the relevant stakeholders cooperate to ensure indigenous and non-indigenous Australians have equality in life expectancy and health status by 2030 (Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission 2008).
For quite a long time, it has been known that indigenous people in Australia have a disadvantage in terms of health. Many organizations and activists have over the years been trying to bridge the gap in health status between them and non-indigenous Australians and the signing of the agreement was a huge milestone that served two purposes. It raised public awareness on the matter and it helped to lay down plan for the achievement of parity in health status (Pholi, Black, & Richards, 2009).

This observation portfolio paper presents a summary of my experience and knowledge gained from analyzing four observation sessions in a special education classroom setting. Observation 1 and 2 was conducted in the morning, observation 3 of 4 took place during lunch break, and observation 4 of 4 was conducted in the afternoon. Each of the four observation sessions is discussed below.

Observation Summary
The class consisted of nine students; eight students were male and one was female. During my observation, I walked and looked around as the students started each morning with snacks, milk, and orange juice for breakfast followed by typing lessons, mathematics lessons, group calendar practice, and personal information binders.
