...Reviews Adolescent adjustment and well-being: Effects of parental divorce and distress
Introduction
The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of divorce or separation on an adolescent’s psychological adjustment, investigate if there are any gender differences in the effect of divorce, the impact of time on the adolescent after divorce, and the effect of divorce on the adolescent after controlling for parental symptoms of depression and anxiety (Størksen, Røysamb, Holmen, & Tambs, 2006).
The independent variables for this study were divorce and parental distress. These two variables were selected because the researchers wanted to establish the effect of divorce on adolescents and compare it to those of adolescents whose parents had not divorced or separated. Adolescents who had grown up with one parent were included in the no divorce group since they had only known a single parent. Parental distress was used to determine the impact this would have……

Summer Sun Risin

...Reviews Book Analysis
African-American: SUMMER SUN RISIN'
W. Nikola-Lisa, Author, Don Tate, Illustrator, illus. By Don Tate. 2002.
An Afro-American lad helps his parents to work on their farm, rather leisurely as they enjoy the gradual movement of the sun to dusk. The family creates time for some fun after a long day's work on the farm, including hoeing, milking the cows, tending hedges, among other tasks in the simmering heat of the day's sun.
A summer day is captured by the artistic expression of verses in colloquial and paintings on paper texture. The expression on the characters' faces depicts contentment and confidence. The manipulation of the views may be rather disturbing, but the images will surely capture the audience. The full-bleed works of Tate portrayed advantageously in the horizontal view of the book's format, stretch the expanse of the plains one bit more by portraying the horizon as an unmistakable……

Integration Of Social Networking In Design Education In China

Pages: 3 (809 words) Sources: 1 Document Type:Article Review Document #:38182762

...Reviews Article Summary
The study by Jiang, Tang, Peng and Liu (2018) looks at using social networks as a tool to facilitate collaboration among students and interaction between teachers and students in a Chinese high school. The investigations into the utility of social networks were conducted among various design and technology classrooms in high schools throughout China. Based on the findings, Jiang et al. (2018) were able to produce a theoretical framework for web-based design learning and teaching system in the style of social networking. They tested their framework and found that the most important features of the framework are its ability to facilitate innovation, collaboration, and interaction.
The researchers additionally “validated necessary techniques and design features required to make an education-related social networking site effective and affective for the students and teachers” (Jiang et al., 2018, p. 189). The overall finding was that social networking sites help to enhance the……

Allen, A. R., & Pidano, A. E. (2017). Childhood Schizophrenia and Autism: An Empirical Study of Perceived Social Support. Journal of Child and Family Studies, 26(6), 1664-1670.
Theoretical Basis
A strong relationship has been established between social support and psychotic symptoms. However, there is not study that has analyzed the level of social support received by children with schizophrenia. Children who have low levels of social support have been found to be at a greater risk of increased internalizing and externalizing problems.
Hypothesis
Youth with childhood and adolescent schizophrenia would have less social support than children with autism spectrum disorder.
Children with the least amount of social support would report the lowest level of functioning
Independent Variables
Diagnosis and level of perceived functioning
Dependent Variables
Perceived social support
Control Groups
Children with Autism
Data Analysis & Statistical Methods
Tests used were the t-test……

Boys Dont Cry 1999 Transgenderism

Pages: 3 (790 words) Document Type:Movie Review Document #:25718786

...Reviews Q1. Explain the impact of the social and cultural influences on sexual attitudes and behaviors as it relate to Brandon.
Boys Don’t Cry depicts the challenges faced by a young man in the 1990s attempting to transition from female to male. Transgenderism is the technical term used to describe someone who was born a particular anatomical sex, but identifies as the opposite gender. The film shows the difficulty of transitioning when the concept of gender is tied to anatomical sex. Even today, in more liberal cultural contexts and environments, there is often a great deal of tension when someone comes out as transgender. This tension is exacerbated in an area of the country where hyper-masculinity is embraced and the division of roles between the two genders are heavily policed.
Ironically, one of the reasons that Brandon Teena is so attractive to his love interest in the film, a woman named……

Patient Safety Nursing Skills And COPD

Pages: 1 (363 words) Sources: 1 Document Type:Article Review Document #:43112175

...Reviews According to a study by Aiken (et al., 2017), there is a direct correlation between a more highly skilled nursing workforce and lower patient mortality, higher patient satisfaction, better quality of care, patient safety, and a reduced rate of other poor medical outcomes. To gather the quantitative data to establish this association, the researchers used representative samples from acute care hospitals in Belgium, Finland and Switzerland. They controlled for unrelated patient and hospital variables which could have impacted the results. In all of the wards, nurses were responsible for providing direct care to patients.
The findings are interesting, because despite the fact that different nations have different educational standards for their nurses, the link between quality of care and nursing skills was consistent. This is significant for the study of COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) given that the United States as well as the United Kingdom have begun to explore……

Screening For Depression Among Minority Young Males Attending A Family

Pages: 4 (1228 words) Sources: 3 Document Type:Article Review Document #:56012700

...Reviews Introduction
In the article Screening for Depression Among Minority Young Males Attending a Family Planning Clinic, Ruth S. Buzi, Peggy B. Smith, and Maxine L. Weinman sought to determine depression among males who attended a family planning clinic and if there were variations in depression based on service requests and sociodemographic. This paper, therefore, is an evaluation of this article with the objective of determining the variables used, the analysis method used, and how these are appropriate for the type of study and the data collected. The evaluation will include a summary of the study.
Summary of the research
Background
Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is one of the most common chronic conditions as, according to statistics, one in every five Americans aged 18 years and older have experienced at least one major episode of depression. This is even more pronounced among young people as the rate of mental illness is……

The Disney And Pixar Merger Deal

Pages: 2 (656 words) Sources: 2 Document Type:Article Review Document #:47438743

...Reviews Disney and Pixar
The acquisition of Pixar by Disney in 2006 is an example of vertical merger, which is best described as a merger that occurs between two firms that work at separate and distinct stages of the production process. By merging operations, the two firms become one and their oversight of the production process is made that much more complete. Prior to the merger, Pixar produced films and Disney released them, marketed them, and so on. After the merger, the entire process would be overseen by Disney with Pixar leaders still playing a fundamental role in the creative development phases of production (Jain, 2013). As Debruge (2016) notes, however, the merger was more of a bailout for Disney, whose animated studio had floundered ever since Pixar’s hit Toy Story took animation and audiences in a whole new direction. Disney thus wanted to keep the firms separate while retaining ownership……

1
Nordau’s analysis of the Jewish psyche is one of victimhood: “Everywhere, where the Jews have settled in comparatively large numbers among the nations, Jewish misery prevails” (Nordau, 1897, p. 1). The Jew is described as being without a home, a land, a nation, a state of his own. Even when he has been emancipated in a country, it has only been by legal terms and not by sentiment: he is still regarded socially as a pariah, an outsider, something foreign to the national body politic. Thus the psyche of the Jew is “Ghetto”—i.e., filled with “shame” and “humiliation” (Nordau, 1897, p. 3). Every Jew is thus psychologically oppressed, downtrodden and crushed and lives in a state of abject misery.
2
Nordau compares the Jews to other racial groups by show that only the Jew is barred from polite society: “No Jews Allowed” is the sign they see posted everywhere……
