...Quotes Commonplace Log
Part 1
“You know in the old days it was not so easy to get a girl when you wanted to be married.” This quote begins the story of “High Horse’s Courting,” and it sets the tone that Black Elk wants to set. He is making a comment on the present and the past with the quote and wants to show that times were different when he was a young man and that the courting process was a lot more challenging back in the old days. It thus appears that he is talking to a younger audience and is both trying to entertain them a bit and trying to teach them a lesson—namely that if young men want to win a nice young girl they should be prepared to show that they are men. So that story that he is about to tell is one such a story,……

Interpreting Three Romeo And Juilet Quotations

Pages: 3 (1038 words) Sources: 2 Document Type:Essay Document #:11653012

...Quotes Romeo and Juliet Quote Analysis
Quote I
They say the lady is fair. 'Tis a truth, I can bear them witness. And virtuous—'tis so, I cannot reprove it. And wise, but for loving me. By my troth, it is no addition to her wit—nor no great argument of her folly, for I will be horribly in love with her. (II.iii.204–208).
Reaction
Leonato, Claudio, and Don Pedro have been discussing Beatrice's love, albeit fabricated, for Benedick, and he (Benedick) has overheard. On stage, alone, he thinks about these developments and resolves to reciprocate the love. He quips, "for I will be terribly in love with her" (II.iii.208). This section is obviously meant to elicit humor, as it is realistically impossible to fall so deeply in love with a person just by knowing their virtues. The intention to elicit humor can also be perceived in the use of the word "horribly." From……

Online Auctions For Fund Raising By Non Profit Organizations

Pages: 8 (2322 words) Sources: 4 Document Type:Essay Document #:34213505

...Quotes A Systematic Review of Online Auctions for Fund Raising by Non-Profit Organizations
Background
Its origin dating back to Babylon in 500 BC auctions account as one of the oldest forms of price determination mechanism in the markets. Auction is negotiation protocols that entail simultaneous bidding with the price determined bidders and products or services allocated based on competition amongst potential buyers (McAfee, 2017).
Classifications of Auctions
There are four major classifications of auctions formats in the market based on the information asymmetry and the flow of prices. The auction types include English Auction, Dutch Auctions, sealed-bid first-price auctions, and Vickrey auctions (Klemperer, 2004).
English and Dutch auctions are both open auctions implying that they are orally implemented but entail distinguishing value setting features. According to Klemperer (2004), an English Auction also known as the oral ascending auction or first-price auction entails an ascending sequential price strategy where the auctioneer sets a……

Plagiarism And Academic Accountability

Pages: 3 (870 words) Sources: 3 Document Type:Essay Document #:79505598

...Quotes Academic Accountability
Define academic voice and plagiarism.
Academic voice is a form of communication that uses a formal tone with clarity, professionalism, and straightforwardness. At its core are declarative statements, avoidance of causal language, and authoritative register (Dirgeyasa & Hum, 2017).
Plagiarism is the representation of another author’s work or ideas as own and without full acknowledgment.
Apply your knowledge of academic voice and plagiarism to the rewritten passage, locating and identifying errors.
“The correlational method can be very useful, but it must be used with caution.” - (this direct quote is done well, but there is no acknowledged through in-text citation, thus plagiarism). If knowledge of one variable (height) helps predict another (weight), does that mean that one causes the other? Not necessarily. It is possible that the primary variable caused the secondary, or that the secondary variable caused the primary, or that some additional variable caused both variables.……

Leadership In Spiritual Dimensions

Pages: 11 (3292 words) Sources: 8 Document Type:Creative Writing Document #:51024009

...Quotes Spiritual Leadership and the Role of Self Knowledge in Accepting God's Grace
Barton (2018) describes the soul as that “part of you that is most real—the very essence of you that God knew before he brought you forth in physical form” (p. 13). For me, this definition makes perfect sense and I cannot see any way to improve upon it. The soul is the essence of the self: one can think of oneself in so many different ways but unless one is really tuned in to one’s soul he is not going to be understanding himself perfectly—i.e., the way God understands him. Part of what keeps us from God is this lack of self-awareness. Instead of realizing and addressing our weaknesses or the issues that cause the soul to be dragged down, we cover them over and apply slipshod solutions in an attempt to keep going in the way we……

Pages: 7 (2210 words) Sources: 10 Document Type:Essay Document #:91296274

Corporate finance focuses on financial decisions made by financial managers. Financial decisions is broadly categorized into two: financing decisions and investment decisions (Renzetti, 2001). Investment decisions determines the composition of assets held by a firm while financing decisions focuses on the optimal mix of debts and equity (capital structure). An optimal capital structure can be defined as a combination of equity and debt that maximizes shareholders’ wealth or value of a firm. The value of a firm “is the present value of expected future cash flows to be generated by the assets, discounted at the company’s weighted average cost of capital (WACC). Leisure Sports Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

...Quotes How Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Can Help to Teach the Body Discipline
Concrete Experience
I learned Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) because it was an opportunity for me to exercise, learn a sport, discipline my body and my mind, and develop self-defense training. During the month I participate in a BJJ class at least four times. If I have free time I will do more, but I am at the very least consistently there for at least one session per week. I have participated in the Gracie School for several years, going back to 2015.
Since the beginning, I have learned many skills, such as bridging and shrimping, how to grip correctly, the standing guard pass, the escaping side mount, breath control and the straight-armlock from guard. Escaping from the bottom is one of the drills I remember most as it really opened my eyes to what BJJ is all about (Barra,……

Groups And Networks

Pages: 1 (323 words) Sources: 1 Document Type:Chapter Summary Document #:66005595

...Quotes Chapter Summary: Groups and Networks
How Social Networks are Formed and What In Groups Mean
The chapter looks at the basic theories regarding group interaction and how groups shape the social environment in which people live. It looks at the size and shape of a group, what difference role players make, and how the power of a group differs from individual power or institutional power. It explains the difference between a dyad and a triad—a dyad being a group of two, which is more of a symmetrical relationship; a triad being a group of three or more in which the group has more power as a group than any one individual. In a group, roles are unequal and important. There is the mediator, the rejoicer, and the one who divides and conquers. Size matters in groups. Small groups are good for face to face interaction and grassroots level activity. Large……
