Female Hip Hop Artists Impact

...Genres Women have always been part of hip hop, even though their accomplishments and impact have been understated and unsung. Yet any cursory examination of the history of hip hop reveals countless female musicians and performers. Some, like Queen Latifah, Missy Elliot, Salt-N-Pepa, Lauryn Hill, and Nicki Minaj, become household words. Hundreds of others remain behind the scenes, known mainly to audiophiles or serious music historians. Tracing hip hop back to its roots shows how the musical genre and its ethos evolved as the counterpart to a broader movement for social and political change. Women have remained at the forefront of the cultural revolution that is hip hop, ensuring that feminist values and ideals become mainstream while also making sure that feminism does not become whitewashed. Patriarchal social norms have prevented the women of hip hop from receiving the accolades they deserve, but the artists who have made it their business……

Introduction
Common elements of gothic literature include mystery, fear, omens, curses, preternatural settings, gloomy atmospheres with a hint of being haunted, some dimension of the supernatural, romance, an arch-villain, nightmare situations, anti-heroes and ladies in distress (Mulvey-Roberts; Smith). Popular examples on both sides of the Atlantic include works by the Bronte sisters, works by Poe, and Shelley’s Frankenstein. The gothic was a popular genre form in the 19th century. It was romantic, vibrant, dark, brooding, frightening, exciting, and visceral. It resonated with readers because after a century of Enlightenment (hyper-emphasis on reason and naturalism), the romantic era had ushered in something desperately needed: feeling. Thus, authors of the 19th century, like Duncan Campbell Scott and Pauline Johnson, found elements of the gothic genre to be a useful way to explore……

Deceit is the purpose of disguise, whether it is well-meaning or not. Cinderella dons the disguise of a beautiful princess to win the heart, mind and affections of the handsome prince. The wolf in Grimm’s “Red Riding Hood” dons the disguise of Red Riding Hood’s grandmother in order to eat the girl after he has already eaten the grandmother. In The Ballad of Mulan, the girl dons the disguise of a man to fight in the Chinese Army. In all three cases, disguise is used to deceive, though the intention would not seem to be malicious in every case. However, in Anne Sexton’s modern re-telling of Cinderella, there is a hint of outlandishness about the Cinderella tale that gives the story an ironic and satirical ending: the prince and Cinderella live happily ever after because they stay eternally youthful, never have to deal with children or……

Apply your knowledge of academic voice and plagiarism to the rewritten passage, locating and identifying errors.
“The correlational method can be very useful, but it must be used with caution.” - (this direct quote is done well, but there is no acknowledged through in-text citation, thus plagiarism). If knowledge of one variable (height) helps predict another (weight), does that mean that one causes the other? Not necessarily. The Coen Brothers’ (2010) film True Grit is an adaptation of the novel by the same name and contrasts sharply with the films of the same genre from the 1940s and 1950s. Save for John Ford’s Westerns, like The Searchers, which had a bit of realism mixed in with the sentimentality, there is not much comparison worth noting. The Coen Brothers created a film that is true to the book, while the earlier adaptation starring John Wayne romanticizes the relationship between Rooster Cogburn and the young girl who hires him to find the killer of her father. In the Coen Brothers’ film there is no romanticizing of this relationship at all: Cogburn is old and gnarly and the young girl is still a child. The Coens focus on the relationship as being one of mutual respect and the film ends with a deep not of gratitude and sense……
