1 John 5:13-21: John concludes his letter with a few parting thoughts on the faith of the believers and the confidence they should have in God, as well as encouragement to avoid sin and idolatry, pray for sinners, and flee the world, which is ruled by the devil, and be a true Son of Jesus Christ.

As Geert Hofstede notes, there are several cultural dimensions for each nation that influence how people of that nation think, what their values and beliefs are, and what their worldview is. These dimensions include power distance, masculine vs. feminine work ethic, long term orientation, individuality vs. collectivism, and so on (Hofstede Insights). However, some nations are actually quite diverse and are made up of many different smaller states where there are different subcultures within the main culture. India is one such nation in the world. India was really not a united country until the British colonized it and began to unite and gain control over the different states throughout the land in the 19th century (Panikkar). Deceit is the purpose of disguise, whether it is well-meaning or not. Cinderella dons the disguise of a beautiful princess to win the heart, mind and affections of the handsome prince. The wolf in Grimm’s “Red Riding Hood” dons the disguise of Red Riding Hood’s grandmother in order to eat the girl after he has already eaten the grandmother. In The Ballad of Mulan, the girl dons the disguise of a man to fight in the Chinese Army. In all three cases, disguise is used to deceive, though the intention would not seem to be malicious in every case. However, in Anne Sexton’s modern re-telling of Cinderella, there is a hint of outlandishness about the Cinderella tale that gives the story an ironic and satirical ending: the prince and Cinderella live happily ever after because they stay eternally youthful, never have to deal with children or……
