Also is concern in the presence of the government in the telecommunications market sector. U.S. exporters need to know that shipping of foods and agricultural products must be done to meet Italian requirements whether sealed and bonded or not. Italy has also banned the commercialization of four corn varieties approved by the EU. The biotech corn ban may be in violation of EU regulations. There are also investment barriers in place making it a lengthy process and investors are prohibited from the airlines and aircraft manufacturing markets. There are many problems in trade that could and should be overcome between Italy and the United States; however the United States with the signing of the agreement on textile will in effect be treading on Italy due to the fact that Italy has the practice of low-wage sweatshop type jobs within the country.
