Professional Practice Developments Experience Practice ImmersionThe AACN DNP Essentials and the AONL role-specific competencies examined in this course give the professional nurse a solid way to approach the delivery of quality care. The purpose of this paper is to provide a comprehensive self-assessment of my professional practice developments during the practice immersion experience. This paper brings together the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Essentials and the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) role-specific competencies in order to show how this course has prepared me for success in my professional nursing practice. It gives particular attention to the areas of evidence-based care, improving patient outcomes, benefitting from interprofessional collaboration, perfecting project management, adhering to ethical principles, and the importance and value of sharing scholarship and research.ReflectionIn this section I reflect on seven key course outcomes and how the course has prepared me to achieve them.1. Create Professional Interaction and Partnerships to Facilitate Evidence-Based Care and Quality Patient OutcomesThe course has helped me to improve my professional interactions, collaborations and partnerships with my professional peers in providing evidence-based care. I have had many several discussions, and I have read numerous case studies, and been part of collaborative projectsand through it all I have come to hold a deeper value and appreciation for interdisciplinary teamwork for the sake of quality care and improving patient outcomes. Patient care really needs to be holistic care, involving all professionals within the fieldfrom physical health to mental, social, and even financial and spiritual, as these are arenas that impact the whole person, too (Rosmarin et al., 2021). For example, during a group project on reducing hospital-acquired infections, I worked with specialists (infection control nurses, pharmacists, and so on), and I had a very positive interaction and fruitful collaboration. We were able to bring diverse expertise and implement evidence-based practice. Role-playing scenarios helped me develop better communication skills, too, which has been helpful in maintain a culture of mutual respect between myself and my peers.2. Design Evidence-Based Interventions that Address Healthcare Disparities or Improve Patients Health OutcomesThe course has helped me develop skills for implementing evidence-based interventions that address healthcare disparities. One piece of work that stands out involved developing a community health intervention to address hypertension in underserved populations. I reviewed current literature and came up with a plan that promoted lifestyle modifications and patient empowerment through education, in accordance with the needs of the community. It was a great way to see the power of research applied in a real-world situation, with a plan devised to address real-world needs of those in underserved populations. The course also taught me to incorporate culturally sensitive approaches. I realized that partnering with local community leaders can be a good step in gaining trust and improving participation rates of members of the population. Building trust is like building a bridge, and it is difficult to cross the divide between poor health and good health without it (Kissane & Kissane, 2024). I also saw the benefits of data analysis for evaluating an intervention\'s impact, to see if it is successful or not.3. Top of Form4. Bottom of Form3. Incorporate Knowledge of Healthcare Financing within and Across Healthcare SystemsFinancing is such a big part of healthcare due to expenses and costs that nurses have to know about it and how it affects patients. The course certainly provided a deep dive healthcare economics and its impact on patient care. Plus, in a project that looked into the cost-effectiveness of a new diabetes management program, I applied financial principles to justify the program\'s implementation, and saw for myself…

…my professional development. My mentor had a lot of experience and insight to share with me and gave me much in terms of invaluable guidance and support throughout my practicum. The mentorship has helped me in many different areas, such as understanding project implementation better, and I received a lot of practical advice and feedback so that I could focus on specific skills development. For example, during the development of a patient education program, my mentor gave good input on evidence-based strategies, theory, and effective research techniques. For me, it was a collaboration that definitely prepared me for future leadership.SummaryIn conclusion, this paper has given a self-assessment of my professional practice developments during the practice immersion experience. The course has helped me in my professional and academic development, in terms of how I go about creating professional interactions, evidence-based interventions, incorporating healthcare financing knowledge, supporting interprofessional collaborations, effective project management, applying theoretical and evidence-based perspectives, and knowing and applying ethical principles in every day practice. The collaboration with my mentor was invaluable and my skills development would not have been as great without it. The integration of the AACN DNP Essentials and AONL role-specific competencies has prepared me well for advanced nursing practice. The practical experiences, assignments, and collaborative projects were all part of my growth as a DNP-prepared nurse, and I am confident that I am now ready to lead, manage, execute, and collaborate in healthcare. My experiences are great sources of reflection and I plan on drawing from them for years to come, because through them I have obtained a deeper and fuller and more complete understanding of the role of advanced practice nurses in providing evidence-based care, improving quality care and patient outcomes, and facilitating change in healthcare. This reflection has been most helpful in showing me the importance…

Personal Philosophy of DNP LeadershipIntroductionMy personal philosophy of DNP leadership is based not only on my own experiences as a nurse but also on the education I have received throughout the years in nursing school. Leadership is a particularly important element of nursing because it is where the example, tone and conduct of what it means to be a nurse is seen first and foremost. For that reason, I take

Over the course of the practicum, I hope to enhance my knowledge, the first level of Bloom’s Taxonomy of knowledge (1999), of how to communicate with patients from different cultural contexts in a more effective fashion.
