The purpose of the police is to maintain order, enforce the criminal law, and provide services.
Courts are the place where defendants / the accused / plaintiffs come to have their please adjudged by judge and jury.
Their purpose is to punish, to rehabilitate, and to ensure public safety.
The roles, functions, and practices of the different personnel within the component?
Police work with prosecutors in criminal investigations, gathering evidence necessary to obtain convictions in the courts.
The agents in the courts are the prosecutors, defense attorneys, and judges.
The purposes of the courts are to seek justice and to discover the truth...
Functions of this system include probation, parole, jail, prison, and other sanctions, such as electronic monitoring and house arrest. All is in order to protect public whilst rehabilitating / penalizing offender.

Criminals have the right of access to the court. They have the right to be notified of charges against them before their disciplinary hearings.

Criminals have the right to be free from cruel and unusual punishment.
