Healthcare Advocacy For The Elderly

Pages: 8 (2541 words) Sources: 6 Document Type:Essay Document #:36286528

...Story hour Introduction
Ageism, isolation, and misconceptions about gerontology are all issues that the vulnerable elderly population faces (Brojeni, Ilali, Taraghi & Mousavinasab, 2019). As Yamada et al. (2015) point out, however, the issue of healthcare disparity and healthcare inequality of the elderly is one of the biggest issues because it underlines all the others: if the elderly population does not even have sufficient access to care, it is unlikely to be able to battle the effects of ageism, isolation or ignorance about gerontology. Healthcare costs have doubled since the 1990s (Yamada et al., 2015), and this puts an added burden on the elderly population, whose resources are finite. Yamada et al. (2015) put it this way: “as healthcare costs rises, more of the increasing costs are transferred to certain disadvantaged populations, and patients would have to spend a considerable share of their healthcare costs out-of-pocket” (p. 1745). Iron Contra The Covert Action Operation In Iran

Pages: 9 (2708 words) Sources: 8 Document Type:Essay Document #:25726659

...Story hour Operation Ajax
The war was triggered by the Anglo-Iranian crisis of 1951 to 1953. The Anglo-Iranian Oil Company was largely viewed as a colonial influence bent on controlling the host government and enjoying benefits from the hierarchies that resulted from a society that was divided. However, in 1951, led by campaigns championed by Prime Minister then, Mohammad Mossadeq, Iran managed to nationalize its oil resources. Slightly over two years down the line after the nationalization of its oil, the Iranian Premier was deposed (De Seve, 2020).
When the foreign powers failed to destabilize and abdicate, the British tried to dislocate the premier one more time. Following mass protests and a three-day uprising and bloodshed – the Siyer-Tir on July 21, Mohammad Mossadeq, was granted powers to appoint the chiefs of staff and the minister for war. The British noticed a chance to depose the premier from the differences between the……

Irish Woman Immigrant

...Story hour October 23, 1890
Dearest Mother:
When I arrived on the shores of the United States, I was naturally apprehensive about the stories I had heard about signs proclaiming “No Irish Wanted.” Fortunately, things have changed a great deal since my cousin Barney emigrated here thirty years ago. There are many Irishmen and women in respectable positions. Many Irish also fought in the American Civil War and attainted positions in government afterward. Being Irish is no longer a shame.
I counted myself very fortunate to find a position as a maid in the house of Mrs. A. I was able to secure my position through the use of an employment, or intelligence agency, and was told I was very lucky to be employed by as wealthy a family as the As, because my duties would be comparatively lighter than a girl in a family who could afford only a few servants.……
