Academic essay writing is one of the most important practices in the learning process for students. Academic writing basically refers to the writing a student has to complete for his/her high school, college or university courses. While academic writing assignments have different names, they have the same objective in the learning process. The main goal of academic essay writing is for the student to demonstrate what he/she understands and can think critically regarding the specific topic (Whitaker, p.2). In addition, academic writing provides a student with an avenue to develop his/her critical thinking skills, research skills, and ability to evaluate and organize information. This skills are important in the students learning and development and are applicable in the job market. Prevention of substance abuse in college is frequently discussed and researched and this makes it vital that many colleges implement multiple preventive strategies to determine the one that works. The first one is the education of college students on the impact of drugs and their academic performance. Students must be informed of the negative effects that drug use has on their body and their academic performance (Abelman 4). This will assist the students to make informed decisions about their drug consumption. The college should have drug prevention programs that are targeted towards new college students and those who are most prone to drug abuse (Califano 1). These programs will demonstrate to the college students the negative effects of drug use not only on their academic performance but also on their lives as well (Abelman 5). Introduction
Sylvia Plath’s first person narrator in The Bell Jar comes across as a Holden Caulfield type—a disaffected, somewhat lost, but highly intelligent individual capable of critical thought and therefore exceedingly lonely in a world of conformists, who seem to show no desire to question anything or to know themselves. The narrator of Plath’s novel is Esther Greenwood—a young woman living in New York, a city she loathes. As a result of an acute sense of not being able to fit in anywhere, Esther suffers from depression and tries to kill herself. She ends up receiving a number of shock therapies—such as insulin shock therapy and electroshock therapy—before finally beginning to feel free to be her own person without fear. Introduction
There are a wide range of factors that negatively impact the academic performance of college students. Some of the factors that have been routinely mentioned on this front include, but they are not limited to: failure to attend classes, inattentiveness in class, job-related stress, depression and anxiety (i.e. as a consequence of familial/marital problems), etc. One factor that has in the recent past received significant attention in as far as its impact on the academic performance of college students is concerned is drug/substance abuse.
Discussion
From the onset, it is important to note that according to the World Health Organization – WHO, drug/substance abuse could be defined as “the harmful or hazardous use of psychoactive substances, including alcohol and illicit drugs.” For most young adults, college happens to be a period where they learn and experiment……

Leonato, Claudio, and Don Pedro have been discussing Beatrice's love, albeit fabricated, for Benedick, and he (Benedick) has overheard. On stage, alone, he thinks about these developments and resolves to reciprocate the love. He quips, "for I will be terribly in love with her" (II.iii.208). This section is obviously meant to elicit humor, as it is realistically impossible to fall so deeply in love with a person just by knowing their virtues. The intention to elicit humor can also be perceived in the use of the word "horribly." From……

Julia Jacobs’ article in the New York Times entitled “Dancer Tries to Quell ‘West Side Story’ Controversy: ‘I Am Not a Victim’” raises interesting questions in the #MeToo era, namely who can and should define what constitutes a victim of sexual assault. A controversy arose in the casting of the actor Amar Ramasar the Broadway revival of West Side Story, due to the fact that Ramasar had been found to have shared nude photos of his girlfriend, the ballet dancer Alexa Maxwell, in a punitive act after the couple had separated. Maxwell stated that she had forgiven her former boyfriend, and had even felt pressured to prosecute him after a prominent attorney in the #MeToo movement had contacted her about the toxic culture at City Ballet, where both Ramasar and Maxwell had danced. Maxwell opposed Ramasar’s firing from the play.

Natural law ethics were articulated by Aristotle in classical Greek philosophy and have been a mainstay of Western philosophy ever since, being discussed by Roman philosophers, early Church Fathers and Scholastics in the Middle Ages. It was not until the Reformation and the Age of Enlightenment when modern society began to reject the Old World values where natural law conformed with moral law. Enlightenment philosophers like Jean-Jacques Rousseau abandoned the notion of Original Sin and of fallen human nature and viewed natural law from a liberal perspective in which every human impulse was deemed good regardless of whether form followed function (Laux). Merlin’s traits as a mentor are on display in later works by authors, such as Malory, who has Merlin serve as King Arthur’s mentor. Geoffrey of Monmouth does not make explicit use of Merlin as a mentor in the early Merlin works, but subsequent authors do, and Merlin is widely perceived in the mythology today as being a mentor of the King. This sense of mentorship can also be seen in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings in the character of Gandalf, who serves as mentor for numerous characters—first, for Bilbo, then for Frodo, but also very much for Aragorn, who will be crowned king in the final book of the series.
As Goodrich notes, Merlin is always a good and wise mentor to King Arthur, and in Tolkien’s Rings novels, Gandalf plays essentially the same role for Frodo and the others. While……
