Integration Of Social Networking In Design Education In China

The study by Jiang, Tang, Peng and Liu (2018) looks at using social networks as a tool to facilitate collaboration among students and interaction between teachers and students in a Chinese high school. The investigations into the utility of social networks were conducted among various design and technology classrooms in high schools throughout China. Based on the findings, Jiang et al. (2018) were able to produce a theoretical framework for web-based design learning and teaching system in the style of social networking. They tested their framework and found that the most important features of the framework are its ability to facilitate innovation, collaboration, and interaction.

Company Overview
I’m studying a software company that shall be known as K. K is not based in Silicon Valley, but elsewhere in the US, with offices around the world. K sells SaaS products in the B2B market and has sales in the hundreds of millions, and over 1000 employees. This company has also acquired several small firms in recent years. Integrating all of those individual cultures into a cohesive one has been one of the organization’s biggest challenges. This paper will outline the culture at K via primary sources, supplemented with secondary source material on organizational culture theory.
Primary research consisting of several employee interviews revealed some challenges, especially the domains of underlying assumptions and values. There is a lack of artifacts that provide meaning, which is another problem that will need to be resolved.

The issue of abortion, while never far from the spotlight, has been making headlines again recently as New York passed a full-term abortion law (Tolentino) and Virginia has one similar in the works (North). The Virginia bill has been described as infanticide (BBC) and President Trump has even called for a ban on late-term abortions (Green). In its 2015 Form 10-K, Panera Bread describes itself as “one of the largest food service companies in the United States” and that its success is attributable to “our ability to create long-term concept differentiation.”
The company defines its strategy as differentiation, and this aligns with the generic strategy as defined by Porter. The differentiation strategy cites differentiation as a source of competitive advantage and the market scope as broad (MindTools, 2019).
In this, Panera bread is trying to achieve competitive advantage through concept differentiation. It cannot sustain competitive advantage based on things like the food it serves (fairly standard mainstream white people fare) or free wifi, but it believes that total package concept that it offers is sufficiently unique to win business in the long run. Bell Hooks On Mass Media

Bell hooks notes that “popular culture is where the pedagogy is, is where the learning is” (2006). This statement sums up her views rather well and gets right to the heart of what hooks is up to in her Cultural Criticism and Transformation talks. I agree a lot with what hooks says about popular culture and it lines up well with what cultural critics in the past have said. The Frankfurt School, for example, was very critical of popular culture and its effect on the mass of people. Horkheimer and Adorno (1944) were very critical about what popular culture was doing and how it was achieving a kind of hypnotic effect on people.

However, the local municipal officials have been refuting the claims despite the fact that more than ten percent of water samples collected in 2018 were found with more than 15.8 parts per billion higher than federal lead limit of 15.0 parts per billion. It is also established that Newark’s officials have not been conducting lead and copper rule sampling as required of them, thus failing to identify high content of lead in drinking water. As a result, state department of environmental protection gave an alarm to Newark officials for exceeding the federal limits of lead in drinking water.

Interviews with senior executives can reveal the complexities of ethical decision making at the executive level, as personal morals frequently disconnect from the ethical culture governing the organization or the industry’s regulatory climate (Bailey & Shantz, 2018). Bandwagon fallacies—the sense that because something is normative it is ethical—predominate in the workplace. An interview with C. Linden (name altered to protect the individual’s privacy) shows how personal ethical beliefs clash with the prevailing norms and values in the field. Employee diversity adds to the complications involved in executive ethical decision-making, according to Linden.
