...Football Taking a Knee and the Cultural Problem at the Heart of Race
Introduction
The recent riots over the death of George Floyd has stemmed not so much from the killing of an unarmed black man by police but rather from the perception that the black community in general has been marginalized and oppressed for years. High profile celebrities like LeBron James, Steph Curry and Colin Kaepernick have supported the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, as have many black communities across the nation. However, for blacks and other races and ethnicities in the military, the desire to speak out against oppression while at the same time honoring and respecting the flag and the rule of law has presented a paradox of sorts. On the one hand, taking a knee during the National Anthem became a sign of protest for oppressed voices, spearheaded by Kaepernick and later endorsed by Nike, other celebrities……

Fraud And Abuse In Healthcare

Pages: 1 (353 words) Sources: 3 Document Type:Essay Document #:94252025

...Football Fraud and abuse present significant problems for the healthcare sector, leading to both financial losses and reduced quality of care. The outcomes of fraud and abuse are similar; but fraud and abuse are legally differentiated based on motive. According to Magellan Healthcare (2019), fraud is committed with clear intent, whereas abuse “involves actions that are inconsistent with sound fiscal, business or accepted behavioral healthcare practices,” (p. 1). Determining intent to differentiate between fraud and abuse can be challenging, which is why healthcare leaders need to treat all forms of waste and deception with equal severity.
Healthcare fraud is alarmingly common, with major cases resulting in FBI investigations. Just yesterday, ten retired NFL players have been charged in a case involving “alleged nationwide fraud” on a healthcare benefit program designed specifically for NFL players (FBI, 2019). Cases like these illustrate the high stakes involved in healthcare fraud, showing that the lure……

Pages: 5 (1459 words) Sources: 6 Document Type:Research Paper Document #:49619734

...Football Proper Compensation for College Athletes
Introduction
College athletes with poorer socioeconomic status typically have issues with position educational outcomes. If college athletes were paid, they would have the ability to provide financial assistance to their struggling families, which would provide them with a higher probability to excel both academically and athletically. There is strong rationale that college athletes should be paid, as colleges earn billions of dollars each year from their athletic programs. As with any athletics, college athletes and their sports are the product, The present compensation – a full or partial scholarship, depending on the athlete or the sport – is inadequate compensation for the labor these athletes provide, and the economic benefit of that labor. A more equitable approach to the distribution of the proceeds of that labor will alleviate many of the challenges that college athletes face, in addition to providing distributive justice.
The issue of……

Evaluating The Ideology Of The IRA

Pages: 9 (2717 words) Sources: 15 Document Type:Essay Document #:29993032

...Football The Tactics of the British Intelligence against the IRA
History of the IRA
The Provisional IRA formed in response to a war between the Irish Republican Army and the British state in Northern Ireland from 1969 to 1998. The IRA or what is commonly referred to as the IRA in the West was actually a breakaway from the Army and is better known as PIRA in Ireland. However, because it stood as the fighting force and face of the Irish resistance, it is typically referred to as IRA for short. The IRA was a formal fighting force up until the 1970s when fears of British infiltration caused the IRA to become a secret organization with a cell structure. The IRA published its Green Book, which laid out the rules of being an IRA volunteer. Meanwhile, on the political front was Sinn Fein, which negotiated behind the scenes with the British……
