Jalas, Christina. "Butch Lesbians and Desire."

What, according to Jalas, is the relationship between sex, gender, and sexuality?

How do you think gender and sexuality impact personal identity?

Jalas posits that the butch-femme couple represents a gendered binary or complement, whereas butch-butch desire is perceived of more as "homosexual" due to the close alignment of their gender and sexual orientations. Do you agree with the author's assessment?

2. The female is frequently positioned as a "subject." Why does this have political implications for Case, and how does the author bridge female "subjectification" with the subjects of race and class as well?

3. Why does Case claim that the anti-pornography movement was strengthened by homophobia? What is feminist pornography, and is it possible to have a feminist pornography that is targeted at…

Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson had already inflamed America's own Christian fundamentalists with talk that the terrible events of that day were to blame in part on "the gays and

This may allow room for evaluation of the gender role conflicts which must naturally enter into this conversation. Where so many validate gender roles according to sexuality, this discussion of lesbian and feminist identity yields something of a less certain correlation. Rather, by an inclination to overcome the limitations imposed upon the female identity, there are distinctive characteristics which have been adopted by some within the lesbian community distinguishing these

" James a.S. McPeek further blames Jonson for this corruption: "No one can read this dainty song to Celia without feeling that Jonson is indecorous in putting it in the mouth of such a thoroughgoing scoundrel as Volpone." Shelburne asserts that the usual view of Jonson's use of the Catullan poem is distorted by an insufficient understanding of Catullus' carmina, which comes from critics' willingness to adhere to a conventional -- yet incorrect
