Have the state identified the most important knowledge and skills that they expect a student to demonstrate from K. To 12?

The state of Florida has identified crucial and important knowledge and skills it expects students to demonstrate. This level of knowledge and skill requires demonstration from kindergarten to the grade 12 in the educational system. The main aim of the state standards for Florida is to prepare the children for future job expectations and career development. Since the standards draws from extensive consultation among teachers, school administrators, and experts within the state, they are important. The standards follow the college and work expectation demands. The standards are precise, consistent, and direct in their interpretation. The standards also follow the requirements of the state standards. The state standards for Florida borrow important information or lesson from the state standards hence they represent important knowledge and skills for students to demonstrate. Based on evidence, the standards are crucial for the development of students towards their college education and work expectation. The state standards for Florida present the students, teachers, and parents on their expectations and knowledge skills towards educational development. These standards represent the knowledge and skills that students need to possess in their K-12 education career (NGACBP, 2010).

The state standards for Florida apply under specific grades. Each group of grade has expectations from students, teachers, and parents. Critical grading is vital in moving from one group of grades to another hence the standards determine who is ready for the next step. The existence of requirements for entering grade nine in the Florida educational system is an illustration of standards application in educational career. In order to proceed to another educational level under the career system in Florida, students have to meet specific standards under the grades in which they enroll (NGACBP, 2010).

Have they done this for individual subjects such as science, geography, language arts, and mathematics?

State standards for Florida present educational expectations of students for the K-12 career path under individual subjects. Science, geography, language arts, and mathematics have distinctive standards and expectations available to teachers, parents, and students. Under the education standards, the following subjects possess relevant expectations; Arts, Language Arts, Social Studies, Physical Education, Health Education, Science, and Mathematics. All these standards represent what is essential for the development towards college education and work events. The standards in individual subjects enable the students, teachers, and parents know the requirements of each field of study. This knowledge helps in planning how to achieve the goals and objectives of the individual subjects. Qualification to the next grade depends on meeting the standards of individual subjects (NGACBP, 2010).

State Standards for New Mexico & Pennsylvania

The state standards for New Mexico & Pennsylvania outline the knowledge and skills essential for students in the process of educational development. The standards apply to K-12 career frame in which students prepare themselves for college education and work expectation. Teachers, parents, and students play their roles under the description of the education code or standards. Expectations are clear and self-explanatory hence the stakeholders know their obligations and duties towards achieving the educational goals and objectives. The aim of the state standards for New Mexico & Pennsylvania is to equip students with crucial knowledge and skills to help in their career development from K-12 educational levels. All the stakeholders perform towards the achievement of this objective and mission of the education department (New Mexico Common Core State Standards, 2010).
