In terms of messages sent out to the constituents, the Republican Bachmann has been often accused of not having a clear-cut complex line of candidacy. More precisely, this aspect is in line with the issues mentioned above in terms of momentum. In this sense, the candidate that provides the most complex and reality-based platform on republican lines will most likely win the nomination. As for the candidacy of Bachmann, she received sufficient scrutiny from the community that mostly her campaign is surrounded by the ideas promoted in the Tea Party movement. More precisely, "As for criticism of Bachmann's focus on social issues, Martin said, "When you're running for president, you're appealing to more than just tea party people. And you have to answer questions on other issues as well. So I'm not surprised when any of the candidates are talking about the other issues because those are things that come up in presidential campaigns." (Travis)

Finally perhaps the most likely front-runner of the race, Mitt Romney is at this moment considered to be above his candidates particularly because of his past, background, and family ties with the political world. More precisely, "With job creation and the economy likely to be front and center in the 2012 campaign, Mitt Romney, the son of a former Michigan governor and one-time presidential candidate, is hoping that his background as a successful businessman and former Massachusetts governor positions him as the most qualified contender to jump-start the nation's economy." (New York Times) Therefore, his background as well as his familiarity with the political stage may play a significant role in determining his changes to reach the nomination list.

Overall, it can be concluded that the presidential race for 2012 is rather difficult and the nominations for both republican and democrats are very important. They are determined by different factors as mentioned previously that will eventually decide the nominees.

Atzerodt also made a statement claiming knowledge of a Confederate plot to bomb the White House. The Union's failed raid on Richmond was also approved by Lincoln, and it was later believed that he ordered the death of Jeff Davis in a strategy to end the war. Such speculations were extremely damaging for the strength of the government, and similar conspiracy theories fascinate historians to this day. In this,

Suggestions of Bill's past infidelity, used to attack Hillary, would imply that Hillary was somehow responsible for her husband's indiscretions. That would hearken back to old gender-roles, which made women responsible for the family and the caretakers of their marriages. In turn, that would seem to suggest that Hillary had failed in that responsibility by stepping outside of the domestic sphere. Of course, the most dramatic example of stepping
