Referring to the assigned reading, "The Brutal Business of Boxing," by John Head, does the author make more use of single example, sentence-length example, or extended example? Justify your answer.

Head makes use of an extended example from a boxer's life, using one man's struggle with the sport to represent all of the abuses that can occur in boxing.

Summarize the five types of sentence fragments that were presented in Unit 6 and explain the method/s for correcting each type. (5 Types: Dependent Clause Fragments, Verbal Phrase Fragments (to, -ing, -ed), Missing-Subject Fragments, Example and Exception Fragments, and Prepositional Phrase Fragments).

Dependent Word Fragment: group of words that do not express a complete thought, to correct either finish the thought or link with a conjunction.

Verbal Phrase Fragments (to, -ing, -ed): these verbs need 'helper' verbs to complete a thought.

Missing-Subject Fragments: sentences without a subject that need to have a subject connected to the verb or connected by a linking word to another sentence.

Example and Exception Fragments: Examples or exceptions standing alone t need to be connected to an independent clause explaining their relevance.

Prepositional Phrase Fragments: Prepositional phrases not connected to an independent clause need to be connected to an independent clause.

Explain why there are two schools of thought regarding the following question: Is it acceptable to begin a sentence with "but?"

Some people think that because 'but' is a preposition it should only be used to link two ideas together, and a sentence beginning with 'but 'cannot stand on its own. But so long as the exception the 'but' relates to is either implied or present in a nearby sentence, and the speaker's meaning is clear and otherwise grammatically correct, using 'but' can convey an interesting texture to a piece of writing.

Describe and explain how definition, classification, and process are methods of showing the limits of a topic, the borders that define it, and of ordering it into steps, stages, or types.

Defining a topic focuses the essay: for example whether the author means the type of 'running' as in all types of running, or running as a recreational or professional sport. Defining running also can show what limits there are to the definition in certain points-of-view, based on biomechanical movements and speed, different steps from being e a more recreational type of runner to running a marathon, as well as the different stages of running conditioning. Classifying sprinting vs. distance running shows different types of running, and examining the running process can show how it…

Life It is important to acquire goodness in order to understand the meaning and purpose of life. Distressed and hopeless people do not consider or think about the meaning of life. As USA Today's Bill Keveney recently noted, "The broadcast networks [are airing] fewer than 20 live-action, 30-minute sitcoms, about half as many as five seasons ago.... No sitcom has finished in the top 10 since 'Everybody Loves Raymond' in 2005." (Dumenco 2007, NP) This may lead some to conclude that the writer's strike will actually have less of an effect on the industry than expected, because so much of their

Companies frequently fall in love with the data-rich results and think that the results are projectable. This supposition is wrong. Projectabilty is not possible, as the analysis is slanted and deals with a small size. Another general misapprehension is the belief that qualitative research will always give perfect deductions. Actually, the results will not give companies with perfect deductions, but only with adequate information to set up a firm

Biblical foundation is of utmost important for a practicing Christian in today's tenuous, and arduous, times.
