In the modern business environment, communications policies also pertains to electronic transfer and storage of business information and correspondence. Likewise, communication policies dictate the rules differentiating permissible and impermissible uses of communications equipment for personal use as well as the privacy rights (if any) permitted employees on company time and equipment. Finally, communications policies also outline the expected protocols for business communications between co-workers, particularly with respect to the expected supervisory functions (Russell-Whalling 2008).

In my current company, the organizational culture permits "reasonable" personal use of company equipment and time, provided it does not amount to more than a nominal expense or compromise any aspect of efficient business operations. The privacy rights of employees to personal information disclosed or stored on company equipment is nonexistent and explicit acceptance of that policy is ensured through the computer log-in system that requires daily confirmation in the log-on process.

Business ethics reflects a company's policies on matters not detailed by law, including its relationship to the outside community, such as its corporate policy on environmental concerns and charitable donations. It also reflects a company's commitment to adhering to any codes of conduct or professional ethics governing its field of business. My company promotes high ethical standards and requires absolute compliance with applicable laws and industry standards. Likewise, it has established a strong record of corporate giving and contribution to the local community. Change management pertains to the incorporation of changes in external business concerns, and also the mechanisms for implementing operational and managerial elements dictated by changes in corporate organizational culture and policy. I have not yet personally experienced change implementation in a professional capacity.

Conclusion:

In many respects, modern business operations and management involves many more variables than in the past. American social culture and legal environment has changed significantly in the last few decades. Organizational culture and behavior has had to manage extensive changes with respect to traditional business concerns in addition to adapting to significant change in ethical and legal issues in the business environment.

Ultimately, the process of change management is therefore essential to maximizing production and profit potential.
