Learning in a Pandemic (Fall 2020 Semester)

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about some major changes in education for students around the world.  In many places, COVID-19 has led to remote learning, which comes with its own challenges.  However, even in places where students are back to classroom learning, the learning environment has changed. Social distancing and wearing masks have literally changed the face of classroom education.  While the emphasis in schools has always been on education, they also provided opportunities for socializing and relaxing with friends, which are not the same in pandemic conditions.  This has led to stress for students, parents, and educators.

In fact, while many people are worried about the technical details of the 2020-2021 school year, at Study Spark we think that this stress may be the biggest factor influencing whether or not students will thrive and learn this year.  It is a well-established fact that stress has a negative impact on learning.  It is also well-established that once students get behind in a subject, they really struggle to catch-up.  Fortunately, we have some great tools that students can use to help them tackle challenging information and help reduce any school-related stress.

Learning in a Pandemic

One of the tools that students and parents both love is our book notes.  Book notes are designed to help students gain mastery over difficult reading topics and not only provide a chapter-by-chapter synopsis of the book, but also discuss themes and provide character analysis.  While they are meant to accompany a student’s reading of a book, they are also thorough enough to give students enough information to let them keep up with classroom discussions, tests, or quizzes if they get behind in their reading.

Another fantastic tool for students is our homework answers.  In a classroom environment, students who struggle with their homework can easily get a teacher to review homework assignments or ask a peer for help with difficult questions.  However, with social distancing and remote learning, this type of one-on-one help can be more difficult.  Homework answers can help students clarify questions that they may have or provide step-by-step mini-tutorials for challenging problems.

Of course, we all hope that the pandemic resolves as quickly as possible and that students are able to return to a normal learning environment.  Even under these conditions, students are continuing with future plans, including college applications.  However, with many people in lockdown conditions, it can be difficult to create a college application packet that makes them stand out from the rest of the pack.  Check out our college essay examples by topic for ideas for eye-catching ideas that will help you stand out.
