And the orchestra presents numerous community concerts at no charge to concertgoers - including the "Annual African-American and Hispanic Festival Concerts" at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center.

To wit, the orchestra has recently supplied the venue, the strings, the brass, the reeds, percussion and voices to back up popular stars like Tony Bennett, Barbara Streisand, Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville, Clint Black, Jewell, John Tesh, Kenny G, and more.

And while the musicians play the music and take the public bows, the orchestra's administrative and marketing teams deserve a round of applause too; in 2006, for the third straight year, the orchestra finished its season with a balanced budget. And that achievement is largely because of the generous donations from people from all walks of life and from all economic strata our of society. The music is magic, the city takes great pride in that magic, but without community financial support, the music would not continue.
