Race has always been a cultural factor in the U.S. and it is certainly a factor in today’s criminal justice system. James (2018:30) has shown that current “research on police officers has found that they tend to associate African Americans with threat” (30). A significantly higher percentage of the African American population is incarcerated than any other population in the U.S. And, worse, as Lopez (2018) points out, “Black people accounted for 31 percent of police killing victims in 2012, even though they made up just 13 percent of the US population.” The evidence indicates that African Americans receive a disproportionate amount of attention from police and are disproportionately punished and incarcerated because of institutionalized racism within the American ruling class. This racist worldview was evident from the early days of the nation, when the concept of Manifest Destiny was put forward by John O’Sullivan (1845). That concept expressed……

Is The God Of The Old Testament The Same As The God Of The New Testament

The God of the Old Testament has been viewed by scholars as something different from that of the New Testament. This mischaracterization is often produced by placing emphasis in the Old Testament on the God’s insistence that infidels be dealt with in a bloody manner (Deuteronomy 9:4-5), whereas God in the New Testament appears to preach mercy and charity and turning the other cheek (Matthew 5:38-40). Yet what the scholars fail to appreciate is that God in the New Testament is just as insistent on due respect being shown to God: after all it is Christ who literally whips the money changers out of the Temple because they are disrespecting the sanctity of the place (John 2:15). It is therefore inaccurate to suppose that the God of the Old Testament is different from the God of the New Testament. The God of the Old Testament is just as merciful……

The person I interviewed is named Pio and he is an IT consultant who has 20 years in the industry and now heads his own company and provides leadership for other companies that need expert advice on their networks and infrastructure. He is the founder and CEO of his own company and has 15 full-time employees. The reason I selected him is that he is an Indian from the state of Tamil Nadu. He came to America on his own in his late 20s and faced many obstacles, both personal and social, to survive and make it in this country. He is an inspiration for me as a leader and I wanted to interview him to understand his leadership approach more deeply.

What is the most significant problem facing the criminal justice system today? Why?
The fact that using recreational drugs is illegal in the United States has always been controversial from a civil rights standpoint. But it is also controversial because of the disproportionate effect it has had upon communities of color. Individuals of African-American and Latino ancestry are penalized at a rate far greater and more severely for drug crimes than their white counterparts—prosecutors are twice more likely to pursue a mandatory minimum sentence against individuals of color for drug crimes, and 80% of individuals in federal prison are either Black or Latino (“Race and the Drug War,” 2018). Discrimination in the prosecution of the drug war has also had an indirect effect upon the electoral policy of the United States, given that one in 13 voters are denied their right to vote because of laws……

The population of students receiving their instruction in another language apart from their mother tongue is increasing as a consequence of the increased migration. Indeed, as Bingol (2012) points out, “migration and language are clearly linked issues…. because the language of instruction in the schools is different from the language spoken at home, some arrangements must be done for these children in these bilingual situations” (1016). Quite a number of research studies conducted in the past indicate that learners could have better comprehension of curriculum in those instances whereby learning is firmly rooted in their mother tongue. This is particular the case in early learning. In one such study, it was found out that in early childhood classroom education, mother tongue was a key factor in the further advancement of the learning abilities of children (Awopetu, 2016). 1. Contextual information about the community addressed:
Historical context: John’s Gospel was addressed to an Ephesian Gentile audience—modern day Turkey.
John 11:17-27 describes the meeting between Jesus, Mary and Martha after Lazarus has died. Jesus’ hour is prefigured in this text but the text should be considered in light of the whole, larger passage, which includes the miraculous resurrection of Lazarus (page 681).
2. Significant information:
Jesus knows of the death of Lazarus before Mary and Martha tell Him, indicating that he is Omniscient (page 687).
Martha indicates that she expected Jesus would have saved her brother but that now it is too late, even though she confesses her belief in a resurrection. This belief does not come across as holding much resignation to the will of God, however, for she is still upset that her brother is dead (page 688).
