The line of business, mission and goals of the organization

The organization deals with the purchasing and supply of building materials to various contractors as well as individual builders. The mission of the organization is to supply its customers with quality building materials that they require and through that be best organization to look out for incase one needs building materials. Their mission is also to remain as competitive as possible in the market and in the end be the most recognized organization when it comes to building materials not only in the country but the world in general. The goals of the organization include reducing any risks whatsoever when doing business; they also aim to improve supply performance over time so that they can remain in market; they also aim to bring innovation from their supply base so that they can survive in the business environment that is competitive; lastly the organization aims to be socially responsible when it comes to environmental responsibility.

Job functions and responsibilities as a supply and purchasing manager

As a purchasing and supply manager my duties and responsibilities duties in the organization include locating different vendors for material supply, equipment or other supplies that are in line with what the organization deals with and thereafter negotiate with them so that they can determine if the products are available and at the same time the terms of sale. Another of my responsibilities is the preparation and processing of requisitions as well as placing purchasing orders for the supplies that the organization deals with. I should also ensure that all the building materials are sold at a price that is most competitive. I am also to ensure that I am in control of the budget of the purchasing department as well as negotiating with vendors so that the organization gets the building materials they sell at a price that is most competitive. Another responsibility is getting regular updates of market developments and market analysis and delivery system so as to access present as well as future availability of the materials. I also have to develop and implement purchasing and contract management policies and instructions. In case of any vendor and contractor grievances it's my duty to resolve them and incase there are surplus materials I will arrange for their disposal (University of Maryland University College, 2001).

Educational background, professional experience, challenges and job achievement

Am a holder of a certified license of operation of purchasing and supply as well as a degree in purchasing and supply. I am very experienced in the field since I worked as a supply and purchasing officer in an oil company a position I held for five years. My main personal challenge is the lack of cooperation effectively with other departments so as to achieve the organization's goals. My main achievement in the organization has been the changes that I introduced in the department which have brought great fulfillment in the organization as a whole.
